The Thales II service is an evaluation platform for Greek Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), through which non-profit organizations can participate in an evaluation process and receive a relevant score based on specific criteria. Each organization can record its performance in 3 main areas:
- Effectiveness
- Organization
- Transparency
At the end of the evaluation, the organization receives a Seal of Excellence, a distinction that is recognized by the entire ecosystem such as, non-profit organizations, government agencies and companies.
Methodology
The evaluation methodology used by the Thales II platform is the result of a thorough investigation of various approaches of evaluating non-profit organizations worldwide. It focuses on a range of quantitative and qualitative criteria and provides each non profit with a one to five star rating (Seal of Excellence).
Key objectives
The service aims to strengthen the efficiency, transparency and impact of Civil Society organizations. At the same time, it will contribute to the empowering, development and improvement of the Civil Society sector in Greece.

History behind Thales II
Thales II service is a continuation of Thales I (2012-2015) and Thales II (2018-2020) projects, which were carried out in collaboration with the Department of Political Science and International Relations of the University of Peloponnese and HIGGS.
The first implementation of the evaluation process was funded by European funds, while during the second implementation (2018-2020) the project was funded by five (5) charitable foundations: TIMA Charitable Foundation, Stavros Niarchos Foundation, Athanassios K. Laskaridis Foundation, Captain Vassilis & Carmen Constantakopoulos Foundation, John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation.
